The plot is based on an actual event that occurred in South Africa. According to Radio Times, the show is eerily similar to the case of Miché Solomon, a Cape Town resident who went to Zwaanswyk High School. The series is been shot in Cape Town, in various locations throughout the city, to show off the city in all its glory.
Although Parkhurst is a real community, the school on which the film is based is not, and so the majority of the exterior shots have been shot at Cape Town University. The brand new season of “Blood and Water” has been officially confirmed to premiere this month on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET), at the same time as other shows on the streaming service.
