Immigrant nanny Aisha a woman who recently emigrated from Senegal, is hired to care for the daughter of an affluent couple living in New York City. Aisha is troubled by the absence of the small kid she left behind and believes that her new profession would provide her the opportunity to bring him to the United States, but she grows more and more uneasy due to the unstable home life of the family. The American ideal she is laboriously creating is threatened as his arrival draws near and a terrible presence starts to enter both her fantasies and her reality.
